Assignment for I.T. students from J.P.Eustace Secondary school for Monday, 16th January; 2012.
Vinlec charges for domestic customers are as follows:
50 cents per unit (kWh) for energy charge;
45 cents per unit (kWh) for fuel surcharge;
15 % VAT on energy charge above 200 units (kWh);
e.g. 1: units used 100
Energy charge 50 cents x 100 = $ 50.00
Fuel surcharge 45 cents x 100 = $ 45.00
VAT = $ 0.00
Total charge = $ 95.00
e.g. 2 units used 240
Energy charge 50 cents x 240 = $ 120.00
Fuel surcharge 45 cents x 240 = $ 108.00
VAT = $ 3.00 [ (240 – 200) x 50 cents x 15 %]
Total charge = $ 231.00
Write a pseudocode or draw a flowchart to accept previous meter reading and current meter reading. The output will be the units used and the charge.
In class, we will write the Pascal code, enter that in the compiler, and test how it works.
